Because Beige Is Boring

Modern space can really capture someone's eye, but without the right decoration, your space won't jump out at you. Currently swooning over Rice's Autumn/Winter 2012 collection, the bright colors bring out the pure white foundation of the interior space. I've always dreamed of decorating with a bohemian chic theme, but the boldness of these brights has me walking on the wild side.

Miss China crowned Miss World 2012, in China

China's Yu Wenxia has been crowned the 2012 Miss World.   This is the second time Miss China has been awarded the title. The last time was in 2007 when Zhang Zilin took the honor. The first runner-up is Sophie Elizabeth Moulds of Wales and the second runner-up is Jessica Michelle Kahawaty of Australia.  The 23-year-old Yu is a music student who says she wants to become a music teacher.  This is the first time for the Inner Mongolian city of Ordos to host the international beauty pageant.  The city is one of the richest regions in China thanks to its abundant natural resources. It hopes the world event will raise its profile for economic development and tourism. Sanya, another Chinese city, has hosted the contest several times.

Quote Of The Day – Julianne Hough Is A Good Little Stripper

“I’m actually pretty good at stripping, which makes me wonder what happened in my previous life. Funny enough, I don’t wear a lot of clothes when I dance and it’s very sexy, so it wasn’t too hard to get into the motion of it.”
~ Julianne Hough, 23, talking with The Insider about how she didn’t have to work on her stripping skills for Rock of Ages because it comes naturally.

On Point

Ballet flats are my signature style. They're simple, they make a great staple and they're easy to include in any outfit. But there's one flat I've been shying away from and I don't know why -- the pointy flat. I've made myself a little promise to try them out because they're so fabulous and there's no reason not to like them! The pointy toe is classic and feminine and now, I'm addicted.

Hello, Hi-Lo Dresses

Mellow Yellow

Do you love yellow this summer? While it can be a little bright and overwhelming, if it's thrown into an outfit with other colors, it can be just the pop you're looking for. I never thought I liked yellow until I tried on a yellow blazer at the beginning of the summer. After that, I started to add yellow to my wardrobe a little at a time. It surprisingly goes nicely with a lot of other colors: blue, black, red, orange and even light pink. Little by little, yellow can become your new favorite color.

One of my favorite places for yellow is mixed into a pattern. In a pattern (like in the blouse pictured) where there are neutral and dark colors, yellow can really make a splash. Then, with a solid-colored jean, the brightness is balanced out. But what about shoes? That's the easy part. Just match the shoe to the bold color, yellow in this case, and you're good to go. Don't just let yellow live in one place, spread it around your outfit! Of course, not too much. But you know what I mean. Take advantage of this bright hue before summer's over. You've got a solid month left! Ready, set, yellow.

Pattern of the Week: Polka Dots

I've loved polka dots ever since I was a little girl, and they're popping up once again! Last week, I bought a great pair of polka dot pants at Topshop. They're the loose fitting pants that're in style now. Or as my mom said "the ones like MC hammer?" Yes, mom. Actually not quite. Anyhow, celebs are sporting the polka dot pants look, I'm sporting it, and so can you!

Adam Levine Covers Inked Magazine September 2012

The Voice star and Maroon 5 frontman, Adam Levine, is covering the September 2012 issue ofInked magazine. Inside his interview with the mag the 33-year-old chats about making music, histattoos and his acting debut.

Check out some highlights below from his interview with the mag:

On making with Maroon 5: “There’s obviously a certain balance between pursuing an audience and pursuing what you love to do, but I love what we do. I would never put out a record I didn’t want to listen to.”

On worldwide exposure: “I get off on that ability to connect with a large group of people. That’s what I aim for when we’re making music. I’d much rather be able to go to Indonesia and sing a song that we wrote and have everyone sing the words than be hiding and playing in a little club. If I wanted to make a record that was super self-indulgent and all about the art I would, but I’d rather take those skills and apply them to something else, which is gathering a huge audience to appreciate the music.”

On his latest tattoo – a string of beads around his neck: “I was in Japan and I got this necklace. I’m not sure why I got it—I think I was bored. But I like it.”

On making his acting debut on Season Two of “American Horror Story” this fall: “It’s challenging. The first thing I did when I got the job was ask friends who are actors what the f**k I was supposed to do.”
