Pinterest Reveals Photoshopped Celebrity Photos Before and After

Depending on whom you ask, the average American sees about 300 advertisements a day - the number jumps up 10 times that amount if you find yourself in NYC. So if you have similar interests to me (hello clothing and web surfing!), the myriad ads include impossibly thin women draped in couture telling me I need the latest beauty product or push-up bra to look exactly like them. It drives me nuts, especially because not a single person could ever look like them - not even them!Since the rise of celebrity, the parameters for beauty have become irrevocably strict and thanks to this wonderful program – aptly titled Photoshop - as women and men can now make their bodies everything they ever wanted, sans the gym or diet. Want to be taller? Photoshop can lengthen your legs. Want to be skinner? Photoshop can create curves and take away lumps. Want to even out your skin tone or get a quick tan? Photoshop does that too!

Celebrities aren’t immune to the effects of Photoshopping. Accounts of celebs wearing two pairs of Spanx or wrapping themselves in saran wrap to fit into a dress neither shock nor surprise me anymore. As you can tell from the photos below, it seems more than just a few lumps from their midsections are removed via computer assistance. Stars like Madonna and Britney Spears look worlds different than their magazine counterparts, and don’t even get me started on the Victoria’s Secret Angels - those bodies (while killer on the runway) are still at least somewhat computer generated!  Below are 10 photos, all from various Pinterest accounts, that show a before and after of a Photoshopped celebrity. I can’t decide if I feel like I should jump for joy knowing that celebs are exactly like us or disappointed that my gym inspirations are physically never going to come to fruition.Has Photoshop gone too far or has the expectation of perfection enabled the success of the computer program?

This Casket Photo of Whitney Houston's Dead Body Is Now on Newsstands Everywhere

Last week, the National Enquirer had us reeling from a morbid photo shoot in which a model was paid to pose as Whitney Houston's dead body. This week, they take it to a whole new level: The tabloid printed open-coffin images from Whitney Houston's viewing. That's her corpse on the cover. While it is customary, in certain cultures, for family and friends to gather for a final viewing of the dead, this particular image is invasive in that the viewing was not for public consumption. But here it is, at your grocery store checkout. The publication was certainly not invited to the funeral home in Newark, and must have paid someone for an illicit cameraphone picture.
But when it comes to photos of the dead, this is less out-of-the-norm than you might think. The New York Times published an image of Muammar Gaddafi's bloody corpse on the front page in October of last year; after the horrible earthquake in Haiti, photographs of corpses accompanied many news reports, in an attempt to convey the sheer scope of the tragedy.Whether or not a printing a photo of a corpse is newsworthy — or ethical — is arguable, and there are strong cases for both sides: Images are news. Post-mortem photography has provided closure for the living for over 150 years.

The issue will be at newsstands and checkout lines in grocery stores across the country, where fans may wince, then reach out and spend $3.79 for a glimpse of their beloved star's final moments. Often when faced with news that someone is deceased, our reaction is, "I can't believe it." Funerals and viewings offer a concrete touchstone. Seeing is believing. That said: The context is upsetting (though, to be honest, not terribly surprising), since we can assume that the Houston family did not grant permission for the image to be printed, and someone made a wad of cash from its sale. It's also disturbing because Whitney's "last photo" is in the same issue as a story about Courtney Cox's "pregnancy drama" and an article titled "Ashton Kutcher Goes Cougar Hunting Again."
