“Keep away from people who try to belittle your ambitions. Small people always do that, but the really great make you feel that you, too, can become great.” –Mark Twain
Our friends and families have a lot to do with how we see ourselves. Despite claiming we don’t care what anyone thinks, how we are treated by the people closest to us affects us greatly. When those around us are negative and constantly doubting our abilities, then it makes us doubt them, too. Likewise, when those in our circle are supportive and push us to be the best we can be, we will thrive.
As we head into the weekend, take a look at the people around you. Are they giving you what you need? Do you feel loved, supported, and encouraged? If the answer is no, you might want to have a conversation with them and let them know how they are making you feel. And if they still don’t get it, it might be time to minimize their role in your life.
Life’s too short to be weighed down by naysayers.
