Sure, she’s Downtown’s Sweetheart, a fashion designer, a sneaker head, a music video director and an all around socialite (and one of our favorite Vixens), but for the month of June,Vashtie Kola is adding Target Style’s Guest Editor to her growing résumé. The fashion-forward creative (alongside DJ Harley Viera-Newton) will be picking her favorite Target threads, picking her hottest summer jams and spotlighting the trends we’re dying to try this coming season.

Barack Obama Covers ESSENCE Magazine
President Barack Obama is talking that re-election talk in the July issue of ESSENCE Magazine:
President Barack Obama is on the cover of ESSENCE’s July issue (on stands June 12th) in a piece called “Looking Forward.” Here, he speaks exclusively to ESSENCE about his plan to improve the economy, our health, homes and future—and why he’s excited about the next four years. This month’s issue also features a special salute to military families from First Lady Michelle Obama. In addition, ESSENCE’s piece, “Back in the U.S.A.” highlights soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team for Operation New Dawn who are adapting to life at home and celebrating July 4th with their family and friends.
Here’s a quote from the article:
“I’ve always approached my presidency as a long-term proposition…I didn’t run for office just to clean up the mess I inherited. I didn’t run for office just to return to the status quo. Understanding that some of the things I get done, we may not see the benefits from them for ten years. But that’s how change happens…” —President Barack Obama, ESSENCE (July 2012 Issue)
Change is hard to come by, except it seems when it comes to people’s attitude’s toward Obama. Doesn’t it seem like a lot of people have lost their faith in him? Do you think he’ll be able to regain momentum by next November?

Style du Jour: Mint Madness
Colors have always been a big part of fashion. Different colors pop up in all four seasons, and I always come to a love a color that I never thought I would. This spring/summer, I've learned to love mint. It's an easy color to wear whether your skin and hair is light or dark, and it's a very soft tone. Soft tones are perfect for warmer months because you can wear them outside and keep [somewhat] cool. Mint also matches many other colors, so it's not hard to add bold accessories and shoes. I've seen mint in blouses, khakis, dresses and jewelry, and I've loved it in every form. It's dressy and casual. I love the variety!
See, mint has a lot of opportunities to shine. It's a color that I didn't expect to catch on so fast, and I'm glad that I was wrong. I even love mint nail polish. This color was all over the runways last fall [in spring collections] and now it's all over the clothing racks in every store. And you know what, it didn't get too popular too fast, so it's still trendy. I like that it's under control.
Add a belt or even a lacy material over mint and you've got an instant hit. Even without these add ons, mint-colored chiffon dresses are simple, chic and sophisticated. Not to mention they're a personal favorite of mine. Pair a mint dress with the right shoes, preferable wedges but that's just my opinion, and you'll look like a superstar. And no, ladies, mint isn't just for young girls, it's for anyone! Since when has color been limited to one age group? Never. So drop that excuse, add some color to your wardrobe, and jump on the mint bandwagon that's sweeping the fashion world.
Remember, "The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”

Who Wore It Better: Tulisa Contostavlos Vs Kate Middleton Vs Kim Kardashian in Alexander McQueen!
Don’t you just love this scarlet red dress by Alexander McQueen from the Fall 2011 collection? I do and it looks beautiful on all three ladies below. Kate Middleton wore it at the Queen Diamond Jubilee ceremony on the river Thames. However, she wasn’t the first to wear this red number. Tulisa Contostavlos wore it at an X Factor audition last year while Kim Kardashian wore hers in New York around the same time last year.
Both Kim and Tulisa wore the sleeveless version. Kate donned the long sleeves version for obvious reason, it rained all day in London. You can tell the ladies rocked it differently from the accessories to the hair and shoes.
