How to Do a Messy Bun Like a Pro

Earlier, we brought you advice straight from the desks of Seventeen editors on how get the perfect at-home manicure. Well, now that you've got perfectly polished digits, here's another easy as 1, 2, 3 tutorial.

We can't wait to wear this simple-yet-sophisticated topknot during the sweltering summer days ahead. Perfect for work or the weekend, read on to get this gorgeous braided bun at home.

1) Lift: Using just your hands, rake the front of hair to one side (to get the soft swirl), then loosely pull your hair up into a high ponytail and tie it with an elastic band.

2) Wind: Wrap the length of the pony around the base of the elastic (be sure to leave a piece of hair out in the back for the braid). Tuck in a few hairpins around the base to keep it in place.

3) Shape: Braid the piece of hair you left out and wrap it around the base of the bun. Secure with U-shaped pins. Finish with a spritz of hairspray all over for hold.
