These shoes aren't made for walking!

Last week, the king of the skyscraper stiletto, Christian Louboutin, declared: ‘High heels are pleasure with pain. If you can’t walk in them, don’t wear them.’ Up until then, most high-end shoe couturiers have insisted that the more expensive the shoe, the more comfortable it will be.

I love the styling of these shoes: the hot colours are very this season. The 2in platform is cushioned and the ankle strap not too fiddly. But my problem with these shoes, which I wore to walk to the Z Hotel near my flat to meet a friend for a drink, is that the 5in heel is far too slim: it has the dimensions of a pencil. This meant it kept getting stuck in tiny holes. I felt, too, that the super thin heel only made my calves look fat, while the ankle strap shortens the leg.
