Style du Jour: Mint Madness

Colors have always been a big part of fashion. Different colors pop up in all four seasons, and I always come to a love a color that I never thought I would. This spring/summer, I've learned to love mint. It's an easy color to wear whether your skin and hair is light or dark, and it's a very soft tone. Soft tones are perfect for warmer months because you can wear them outside and keep [somewhat] cool. Mint also matches many other colors, so it's not hard to add bold accessories and shoes. I've seen mint in blouses, khakis, dresses and jewelry, and I've loved it in every form. It's dressy and casual. I love the variety!
See, mint has a lot of opportunities to shine. It's a color that I didn't expect to catch on so fast, and I'm glad that I was wrong. I even love mint nail polish. This color was all over the runways last fall [in spring collections] and now it's all over the clothing racks in every store. And you know what, it didn't get too popular too fast, so it's still trendy. I like that it's under control.
Add a belt or even a lacy material over mint and you've got an instant hit. Even without these add ons, mint-colored chiffon dresses are simple, chic and sophisticated. Not to mention they're a personal favorite of mine. Pair a mint dress with the right shoes, preferable wedges but that's just my opinion, and you'll look like a superstar. And no, ladies, mint isn't just for young girls, it's for anyone! Since when has color been limited to one age group? Never. So drop that excuse, add some color to your wardrobe, and jump on the mint bandwagon that's sweeping the fashion world.
Remember, "The best color in the whole world, is the one that looks good, on you!”

Howdy fabulous people! The weekend came and went and I hope you took in every bit of sunshine that came your way. It’s not officially summer yet but the heat is blazin’ and we need to stay up on our H20. So, look who’s the new spokes woman for Vita Coco Coconut water. I tell ya, it seems like nobody can get enough of Roc Nation’s bad girl RihRih because she’s being a bad arse all the way to the bank! Can’t be mad at her one iota. Check out the campaign below. Hmmm, I might have to give it a swig :) Toodles luvies…Melvyna

Who Wore It Better: Tulisa Contostavlos Vs Kate Middleton Vs Kim Kardashian in Alexander McQueen!

Don’t you just love this scarlet red dress by Alexander McQueen from the Fall 2011 collection? I do and it looks beautiful on all three ladies below. Kate Middleton wore it at the Queen Diamond Jubilee ceremony on the river Thames.  However, she wasn’t the first to wear this red number. Tulisa Contostavlos wore it at an X Factor audition last year while Kim Kardashian wore hers in New York around the same time last year.
Both Kim and Tulisa wore the sleeveless version. Kate donned the long sleeves version for obvious reason, it rained all day in London. You can tell the ladies rocked it differently from the accessories to the hair and shoes.

Celebrities Practicing Protective Styling & YOU Should Too! (Perfect For Summer)

Protective styling, a rather new term that has been thrown around since many women are opting to have natural hair these days and aren’t interested in submitting to relaxers anymore. Instead of letting the world see how their hair is transitioning, women are wearing full heads of weaves and wonder wigs to stay fly despite what is going on with their natural hair.
Protective styling has been proven to be an amazing alternative for women who are looking to grow out their hair during the summer months too, as sun damage can decrease the rate of hair growth. So if you don’t know what to do with your hair this summer, look to these stars for protective styling inspiration:
Beyoncé is known for her wigs! We don’t think she has ever been pictured without a wig on, and maybe that’s best!
It was told, that during Rihanna’s ‘red’ days, her red hair was a wig while she transitioned out of prior hair color. Smart Rih!
Brandy’s wig game has stayed on point for years now, because we remember on her Theadays, her hair looked very short and very thin.
As much as Miss Keri Baby likes to switch up her style, she knows her best bet is to wig her mane up to keep her real strands happy.
Kelly Rowland protects her short hair cut with lustrous wigs from the sun and being pulled too tightly from weave bondage.
Doesn’t it seem that JHud’s wig game stepped up since she lost her Weight Watchersweight? Well it certainly looks so!

Katherine Jenkins wears stunning silk gown to sing the National Anthem to the Queen (and Pudsey's there too!)

It is a day that the great British public have been looking forward to for some time now, but no one could have been more excited than Katherine Jenkins. The 31-year-old singer began the Jubilee celebrations today by the singing the National Anthem to the Queen at Epsom Racecourse. However, she wasn't the only famous one to perform at the start of the weekend's festivities as Britain's Got Talent winner, Pudsey, was also there.
The classical-popular crossover singer went on to admit that is going to be involved in the Olympics this Summer, but added: ' I can't say in what way but all will be revealed soon.' Katherine finished off by saying that what with the Jubilee celebrations and the 2012 Olympics, it is a 'great time in Britain,' and then it was over to Pudsey to show off his skills.

We're clashing! Katherine's dress was a rather different blue to that of the Queen's
Royal performer: Britain's Got Talent winners Pudsey and Ashleigh Butler were also at Epsom Racecourse

Enjoying herself: Queen Elizabeth II smiled as she watched both performances
